History of Orbita Irregular - A Mexican Progressive Rock Band

In 1986 Hector Calvillo (bass) met Pedro Hess (Guitar) at the Autonomous Metropolitan University of Mexico. Then, they met Abimael Ruiz (keyboards) whom they wrote vast amounts of musical material culminating in the formation of the Antares group.
In 1988 the band changed its name to "Máquina del Tiempo" (Time Machine) recording their first demo leading them to the finals of the Yamaha's National Festival and Nescafé with the theme "Generation 2000" televised on Channel 7 from the Olin Yoliztli auditorium.
By 1989 the group changed its name to "Manía" (Mania) and once more reached the finals of the Yamaha's National Festival with the theme "Polvo de Estrellas" (Stardust) broadcasted on live radio from the Magic Circus forum.
In 1990 the band finally changed its name to "Orbita Irregular"
(Irregular Orbit) and performed at various forums in Mexico City like the James Dean, the Sapo Cancionero and the Surf later recording their second demo entitled "Poderes de la noche" (Powers of the night).
In 1991 Jorge Calderon (drums) left the group and moved to the United States and the band was finally formed by Abimael Ruiz (keyboards), Alfredo Biosca (drums), Beatriz Diaz (vocals), Gerardo Linas (vocals), Hector Calvillo (bass) and Peter Hess (guitar).
From 1991-1993 the band performed several times on the most important Rock stages in Mexico City such as Rockotitlán, the Rock Island and the Caribe recording their third demo called "Iniciación" (Initiation).
